A big thank you to Pottsville Elementary for allowing us into your school and working with your students. We as future educators learned a lot by doing this service learning project and hope you continue to go forth with this project! :)
We were able to go into a second grade and a first grade classroom and have the students make it a completion to see how fast each class could bring in a book from their house to their classroom library. Once everyone had a book we helped them read the book on their own if they couldn't do so already. After two weeks of practicing reading their book, both classes went into a kindergarten classroom and were able to read to them.
